TIFFANY STYLE DRAGONFLY FLOOR LAMP

One of the iconic design styles that came out of the Tiffany Studios at the turn of the century was the famed dragonfly-floor-lamp-review/">dragonfly lamp. Tiffany made them primarily as table lamps and these lamps feature a unique natural design of brightly colored wings with many small pieces of glass, and shiny red or yellow bodies and eyes. The real Tiffany lamp had a heavy brass base, and the lamp shade was extremely solid and heavy, with generous solder to hold the thing together. Original Tiffany lamps are highly collectible and highly prized, and a genuine Tiffany Dragonfly lamp would be valued in the order of $100,000 or more these days. Check your attic, or your grandmother’s attic, to see if a family heirloom has been stashed away!

Here is a video from the New York Historical Society showing one of the original Tiffany Dragonfly lamps. It is a work or art – and there is a an interesting story of how Louis Comfort Tiffany employed a team of women to design and build many of his lamps. He gets all the credit – they did all of the work.

Today you can get many Tiffany style dragonfly lamps from a host of Tiffany copies. The lamps are still hand made, mostly in China, and have the hand cut glass, copper lined and soldered together with lead.

The colors are vibrant and each lamp is unique.

This is a smart looking lamp with the drop down facing lampshade. It is a beautiful sea green, sea blue with silver, black and tan colors. And it contains Tiffany’s famous dragonfly design. Silver and black dragonflies look spectacular, flying down from above. The angle of the lampshade is adjustable. The soothing sea inspired colors sparkle when  lit by the single light bulb under the hood. The wings of the dragonfly look spectacular.

The lamp stands 64 inches tall with 12 inch diameter lampshade. The shade is made of individually hand cut glass, copper lined and tin soldered together.

The stand is resin and is very solid. It is a bronze patina.

The lamp is operated with a foot switch and takes a single bulb.
